Wii Hardware \ New Charing Dock

d0mino says:

it was probably necassry so they could add the charging function, and you don't need the bigger battery size because you can just pop it back in the charger when your done.

Naviti says:

Yeah, it works quite well. Haven't had any problems so far.

Ivalaine says:

also, constant charging of rechargeable batteries i think can diminish their capacity. and docking will cause an increased risk of leakage into the wiimotes. the instruction manual suggests you dont use rechargeable batteries because leakage could damage it. im sticking with my energiser rechargeables

gokhan says:

So they went to that extra trouble to make AAA fit? Interesting, maybe if I find this at EB I'll grab it, else I'm after the Joytech one, my JB had 4 last time I checked.

looks good. if you wanna charge your wii and remotes, then get this dock station!!

Esoth says:

Wouldn't using AAA mean less power output and therefore less life than using AA?

Winnie says:

Oooh, so you have to supply your own batteries? I guess that's better than some other docks in that you can replace them if they wear down.

ZOIDBERG says:

Yer it comes with 2 sets of 2 AAA Batteries that go into the slot that fits into the back of the Wii-motes. The good thing about this is if the AAA batteries die after some use down the track you can just go pick up some new rechargeable AAA batteries and stick them in and your on your way again.

You can even go purchase some more AAA rechargeable batteries now and put them in the Battery slot that charges the batteries on their own so you always have a spare set if if your remotes go flat and you cant wait to charge.

ZOIDBERG says:

I've read many many reports on these docking stations ..
They sound like the most sensible accessory to purchase ..

I'm gonna presume that these 3rd party companies have improved their designs now .. ??
But as long as there is potential risk to damaging the Nintendo Wiimotes .. I am very hesitant to purchase one of these products ..
Not to mention I have not seen one example yet of battery life comparisons .. ?
This would be very handy to get a guestimate of if anyone is prepeared to do the experiment ..
:)
Cheerz ..

ZOIDBERG says:

Risk to the Wii-motes??? Its just like putting batteries in it.

06/20/2007 Planet Earth, New New York

Moonraker says:

Hmm , seems this thread is just confusing me ..
I still am curious about the battery life comparisons tho ..

And so how do the AAA batteries fit into the AA battery slot?? ..
And are they rechargable? is so why would you just go get some more when they run out? .. and why do they run out?

Sorry mate , but your 4th last post is really puzzling .. did I miss a turn of sarcasm somewhere thru the thread?
heheh , nm , It's not really an issue ..

About the damage to the motes from charging docks .. have you not heard these reports?
As I mentioned , they would be improving their designs .. but if there is indeed a risk of damage whether short or long term to the .actual remote .. then I think It's reasonable to be at least concerned ..
Not paranoid or anything , just like to make informed decisions nw

ZOIDBERG says:

Nah I have not heard anyting about damage.

The charger fits 2 AAA batteries in its slot that fits into the back of the Wii remote. Just like putting AA batteries in but you use AAA and a slot that makes them fit. Makes the Wii Remote lighter too
