Damn, i never knew that importing a product makes me a spoilt impatient little brat! (i'm 34 and have kids, by the way). A lot of the products we buy everyday is imported anyway.

For the record, my Wii isn't modified and i have no plans on doing it.

However as i mentioned, i have kids who do much damage to everything, including DVDs, CDs, and game discs. It would make perfect sense for me if I could back up all my stuff. I am not made of money, i can't keep buying replacements for each disc that get scratched or damage.

these kinds of arrogant, aggressive and sometimes hostile comments are not the way to put forward your arguments. it's getting too old and tiring.

Its is legal to back up copies of games you own, get off your high horse, you have no right to tell people what they can & can't do with their own property.

hehehe i guess some people can't let go, dsreaper. as soon as they see a post about anything related to mods and backups, they start posting death wishes and get so worked up. a bit childish really.

Once again Desi makes me laugh while reading another silly mod arguement.

On the topic, I can only assume that the people trying to kill all the modders have Never EVER downloaded an mp3, made a copy of a mates new cassette (for those old enought to remember cassettes) or cd.. Copied a video tape or DVD. Recorded a tv show of the tele, got on a train or bus without a ticket, littered, J-walked, driven faster than the speed limit, parked in a no-standing zone, abused a fellow school mate for looking differently, watched a movie that was rated at a higher age limit than they are, taken the lords name in vein, thrown popcorn in a cinema, flamed someone, cheated in a game, stolen money off their parents or done anything that is against any rule anywhere.. etc etc etc.. yes I did go on but then so do these anti-modders.

I would have though wishing someone to die is a far greater sin than modding a console.

But this is the internet. It's what happens.

funny how you mention property. by burning copies of games i guess your its all very legal.

i am sure EVERYONE goes out mods a wii, buys a real game, burns a copy of that game, then plays the backup game - i mean thats why you buy a modded wii for right?

because they have never downloaded a mp3 and dont contribute to piracy in any way. That must be why they dont like people exercising their legal right to install a mod chip.

I dont speak for everyone , I speak for myself , if you had taken the time to read all the posts in this thread you would see I have outlined my reasons for why I intend to mod my Wii soon. You obviously don't have children using your Wii, they can be rough on discs & I have no intention of paying for games twice. I own the games legally therefore I can back them up. Swiftwilly why don't you answer the same questions I asked the Feotoid character earlier in this thread ? I bet you have done something illegal in your life, go take your childish comments & stick them where the sun don't shine.

And Zoidberg, I do own my own games & I am within my rights here in Australia to back them up for my own use.

What people do with their chip is their own business, the fact of the matter is it is not illegal to chip a Wii, wishing people would die just because they have a chipped Wii is not cool.

If nintendo were smart they would not have a region locked console. Then the chip would be 100% illegal. Then they could render the console useless.

They should just really focus on bringing out games that are worth the price they charge. You can't tell me that Super fruit fall or pinball is worth the $80 they are asking for them.??

Gimmicky things like Guitar hero where you get a cool and necessary accessory are a winner too.

Make people want to buy the original games. Make each game an experience worth buying.

Now this is interesting, just found this article.

Australia’s High Court has ruled that modifying PlayStations to bypass Sony's regional coding mechanism does not violate the country’s copyright laws.

The judges, according to the Associated Press, decided that while pirating a game is one thing, playing an otherwise legit game using a mod chip is another, opening the way for Aussies to buy in games from cheaper markets to play on their Sony Australia machines. They also found that Sony’s regional coding did not qualify as a technological protection measure, and also said that regional coding restricted competition and consumer rights.
