Wiimote Charging Docks

Probably been posted, but, aye...

I recently went to EB Games and bought 2 Wiimote Docks, they're awesome, at 35 dollars each they plug into the back of the Wii (2 Usb ports) they then connect together (For looks) and you insert the pack's into the back of the Wiimotes.

I then shove the Wiimote into the deck, and it charges, with a red light, and the light goes blue saying it's charged, life the mote, and i'm on my way.

No issues or problems so far, give it a shot, get yourself one!

I boguht a charging dock but I think I prefer the traditional rechargeable batteries because charging from a USB port is a lot slower. Sure, you can sit the wiimote into a dock after you're finished with it and you don't have to take take out the battery cells and it wil probablyl be charged the next time you use it but I like having my Wii compact and not having a fat charger dock next to it.
I kinda wasted money on the charging dock because of this.
Otherwise it's pretty good.
I would prefer buying a really expensive battery cell and charger that can last a long time and recharge the AA cells in about 1 hour, isntead of these chargign docks.
For the price of say 2 wii charging docks you could get high quality rechargeable cells and a high quality charging station .

I was going to get a chargeing dock but since they didnt come out until a few months after launch I went with rechargable batteries

Rechargable batteries do the job for me, i'm not saying the docking stations aren't any good but I prefer the uncluttered look in my lounge room.

Rechargeably batteries dont last forever, the 4 i was using for my 2 Wiimotes since Dec 7 (launch) have died totally now. I bought a Joytech one, which DOESNT charge via USB, you plug the connection into the Wii's power plug, then you plug the Wii's power cable into the back of the docking stations plug. It works very well and you don't have the slow USB charge, in fact it barely takes 2 hours to charge from dead flat.

The batteries in the joytech are the same as any other AA rechargeable battery you'd buy from a store in australia.
They're probably not as good as high grade rechargeable batteries though.
If the charge is only 2 hours that would also mean that the joytech's cells don't have a big capacity.
How long do the joytech batteries last until they go flat?
No way could power output from a USB port charge a decent capacity size rechargeable cell in 2 hours.
The batteries that died on you were probably NiCad.
Try NiMH instead they last longer.

I am thinking of getting a Charging Dock today from EB Games. I hope it will fit where my Wii is. The area isn't very high, a few centimetres taller than the Wii when it is standing up in the stand. Would a Wiimote sitting in the charging dock fit?

Had no probs for over a year and doesn't take up much room.

Only thing that sucks is its a bitch to sync (if you take extra ones to a mate place or something). I drilled a hole in the back so its easier now...

Why does it make it so hard to sync?

The Charging Dock plugs into a USB port and charges the Wiimotes off the power that it gets from the USB ports right?

I will have to see what is at the EB games I go too, I will end up buying what ever they have there.

You know that red button you press to sync? Yeah, will with this if you take the back cover off the batteries come with it. Anyway, hole had it easier.

Also there are other ones now that have a hole for the red button. I think I got one of the first ones and they didn't wuick think it through...
