Wii Hardware \ The Nintendo Wii. Just A Gimick

Wii-Fan says:

I have just been reading a poll on gamefaqs (www.gamefaqs.com) on where the exicitment of the wii will just roll over and everyone will forget its amazing how the people who have voted have the same view as I do I thought I was in the minority of wii fans with my opinion but no Its not that way at all so I would like to ask you guys not as nintendo fan boys but as gamers do you think the wii is going to become just a gimicky toy and a short last fad like yoyo's

lol I used to love my yoyo some yoyo guys came to our school and showed us all these tricks the next day everybody had them but after a few weeks they where all gone bar a few infact i haven't played with my yoyo for six months now

by the way that full stop should be a comma or something had a mental block there for a second its ment to be a pause it would be nice if an admin could fix that up for me

Nintendo is Nintendo. They will always make better games then Sony and Microsoft.

if no good games come on it then it will be just a gimmick

Yoyos come and go!!!

But to answer your question and be serious for just a second I believe the wii has changed the gaming landscape. The fact is gaming was getting a little stale and needed rejuvenation. In fact what it had was a 'revolution'. Gaming developers are aware of its success and ingenuity and are scrambling to be apart of it.

dsreaper says:

I wouldn't call it a gimmick, usually a gimmick is only aimed to have a short life span and I do feel Nintendo really wanted to knock it out of the park.
As everyone's said if the games don't come it looks gimmicky, but to me it just looks like Nintendo have failed to keep the good times rolling and lets face it, the gamecube was a shining example of such let down.
Note to Nintendo - stop the 3rd party ports, strap on your thinking hats and pull some creativity out

Don't be complaning about missing a comma in your title when your 3 paragraph post didn't have a single full stop!!

Guyver says:

I think whats holding the wii back at the moment is the barage of crap third party games, once these devolopers figure out how to unlock the full potential of this system and when nintendo start releasing the much anticipated titles (mario, metroid, etc..) we should realy see the wii kick into gear. All we have to is be patient, we've all no that nintendo allways suprises us with new ideas all the time. How can you call your self wiifan if your picking at the system. Maybe wii sceptic.

kojiro says:

wii needs a developer like rare. Compare Banjo Kazooie and Super Mario 64, both were amazing (rare's was prettier) especially compared to 3rd party offerings.
Wii doesn't have that second party that n64 and gc (sort of) had

Quality third party developers are getting a bit thin these days because of sony and microsoft buying them up and attempting to control the market with brute force insted of creativity.

kojiro says:

can you back that up with an example guyver? xbox and ps3 seem to have more good games than cheap crap

perhaps you are talking about rare and silicon knights who microsoft bought?

RerunWii says:

what "second party" developers did the GCN have?

04/13/2007 The land of Prosperity...ok Brisbane

Guyver says:

Rare is one example, i think that there are some amazing games on xbox & playstation made by third party developers, i would like to see some of that quality one the wii.

Well.. I like having something different to game with. I think its great that Nintendo had the courage to do something different with their system dispite the risk. However i think Nintendo should of had more quality games at release. So in time classics will come. For now maybe win Zelda again or something!

Well said man, i like the way nintendo think out side of the box, but i think that nintendo wanted to release pre christmas while runing the risk of not having a huge libary of quality titles so they could get a jump on the market. Look how well it sold at christmas, or should i say sold out.

kebab says:

paper mario ,ssbb, mario galaxy nd metroid when they come out the wii will go back on track unless the games are really baddd

04/13/2007 nsw

Mario128 says:

Yeah.. Guyver thats exactly right releasing the Wii at christmas time, everyone bought it. People saw it as a revolutionary console that was at a good price far cheaper than the 360 and yeah at that time the lineup of games looked great on paper. So really yes there might be only a few worthwhile games out there but if we just wait a little longer things will happen and the Wii will heat up again.

04/13/2007 Adelaide

Wii-Fan says:

yeah nintendo did have the courage to make a truly revoulutionary console but it didn't have the games or third party developers to back it up. Maybe it should have waited because the amount of people selling back there wiis is farhigher then nintendo would like I think. I suppose we will never know!!!!!!

ps. those full stops were for you kojiro!!!!!!!!!!!
