wiikey isn't sold at electronics boutique. expect to have to put some effort in to buy and install one. There's no easy option (although there's a pre-modded wii on mygames.com.au if you dad wrecks it)

Have you at least researched the installation? It's not hard at all. I rank it somewhere between putting batteries into a flashlight and installing a PCI card.

For the computer-unsavvy, PCI cards are really easy to install.

Your dad should be able to do it without problems, as long as he watches out for static electricity.

I would think static electricity is the last of his worries. id say watch out when soldering.

See the guide section.
They work perfectly fine after being chipped because the chip can't be detected.
...Also there are chips that can be disabled for xbox live etc.

There aren't that many things that can go wrong. It boils down to common sense: don't use too much pressure, watch where you put the soldering bit, ground yourself to remove static electricity, and don't apply too much solder.

Anyway, tri-wing screwdrivers are like $5.

It's not too bad. The WiiKey install guide suggests placing a dab of solder onto the solder pads, so that when you place the chip on your board all you have to do is touch the back of each pad with the soldering iron.
