So your friend either gave you a weekly earning figure of US$6000, which is certainly an out-and-out lie because it is almost eight and a half times the average yearly salary, or he gave you a weekly earning figure of ¥6,000, which is tragically short of Tokyo's average salary, and he would in fact live on the streets.
