Wii Hardware \ Wii cooling system....

Guyver says:

i saw a cooling stand and big w the other day that runs off usb power when the wii is on and runs of ac power when off which should work well for connect24, havn't tested it myself so i can't confirm how good it is, but i've heard complaints about some of these aftermarket fans being a bit to noisey especially the ones on ebay.

Except they aren't sold by Nintendo so they won't make money from it.

i left my wii on standbay + wii connect 24 eversince the first day it came out

result?

only emitting more greenhouse gases, wii is fine.

THE WII IS BUILT FOR THIS OTHERWISE NINTENDO WOULD HAVE A BIG LAWCASE ON ITS HANDS!

how many people would complain when wii cannot even stand a week on connect24??

JUST LOOK AT ITS NAME. "24" it means, keep it on 24 hours.

geez.....

you might as well wear full padding when you walk outside incase something hits you...

I'm with you on this one.

It's funny, if it weren't for the 360s dying, you guys wouldn't even think twice about the Wii being warm but because of it you think it's going to self destruct. I have yet to hear of a Wii that has been on standby and not worked when someone has tried to turn it on. In comparison, when the 360 launched there was no shortage of sob stories of peoples machines dying, my friends died after 2 months - but i've had my Wii running Wii24Connect since launch day and i've had absolutly no problems. Thats 3 and a bit months of constant use and it's got a warrenty for a year. My advice is to (pun warning) chill out, it's been show that the Wii runs MUCH cooler than any other next gen console... so relax.. you'll live longer

People have had their cpu damaged in the USA only a small amount but yeah, still I just go by touch, I wouldn't let my CD player or TV run at that heat so yeah...

Eruntalon says:

Even though I said the fan cooling stands were a gimmick in a previous post, I went and bought a Playtec brand fan stand from Big-W just for the sake of trying one.

I would like to do a 'proper review' on one but for the sake of this post I'll keep it short.

The fan doesn't seem to do much in regards to cooling. I'll have to check whether its blowing into the base of the wii or sucking air out of it. The noise coming from the fan is minimal.

Some aesthetic positive sides to the fan stand are the white of the plastic which matches the Wii console, and the stand is more rigid than the standard grey plastic Nintendo stand. It also has rubber feet on the base which lift it by a few milimetres - good for airflow?

The two blue LED light strips on the side of the stand aren't neccesary, it just rices the Wii up a bit.

In summation, I think it's pretty worthless as an accessory.

It runs 24/7 unless you turn it off right? wish it could sense when its needed to run and turns itself on and off like putting it on auto

crazynites says:

it has a switch at the back , off - on - on + light , the fan will stay on 24/7 when the wii is switched on or in standby mode & turns off when you turn the wii off standby.

It does, when the light is orange on the wii, the USB ports are still active, You can hear the fan and see the lights.

If this was the case, the intercooler would be Nintendo branded.

Stupidity annoys me.
