It's only a musical feat that was decades ahead of its time. Its technical, beautiful and the pure essence of a progressive masterwork. A song that not only shaped modern rock and music as a whole, but actually gives a physical meaning to the word "beauty".

You're comparing The Beatles and Pink Floyd to Led Zeppelin. That's like comparing oranges to a pineapple lollies.

Ok here's how it goes. As far as influences go, it's pretty safe to say The Beatles influenced both Pink Floyd and led Zeppelin.

HOWEVER!

What Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd did with their influences are two completely different things. Pink Floyd were very abstract, psychadeliic and plain and simply a progressive rock band. One of, if not, the best in the history of music.

Led Zeppelin were always a blues/rock band. Probably followed more in the footsteps of the Beatles than anyone else. But still, a blues/rock band. And yeah, they experimented with some very early heavy metal structures and threw in some very nice solos which are still copied to this day by most metal bands.

Now, Stairway to Heaven......no doubt, a beautiful song but I have yet to find anything like it in regards to Pink Floyd and The Beatles. In fact, I'm just going to completely take The Beatles out of the picture because I can't picture a single Beatles track that resembles Stairway's composition or song structure in any way. The Beatles were very linear with their music.

Their music was a mind-warp, really. If I had to describe their music in a word, "interstellar" comes to mind. They were in a world of their own with their music. In short, nothing like Led Zeppelin. Again, I can't recall a song that comes close to Stairway's composition. To say "Pink Floyd did it before Zeppelin" is just incomprehensible in my opinion.

Now, in saying all this...I think Pink Floyd is one of the grestest bands in history and on par with Led Zeppelin in terms of my favourite listening pleasure. Both are bands that matter and bands that shaped modern rock and music into what it is today. Without them, there would never be Rush, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, practically every heavy metal band in existance or even RnB to an extent.

It was Achilles’ Last Stand and he had started The Battle of Evermore. I fought For Your Life until I was hit with a Candy Store Rock by one of my Friends. I was dead. I was In The Light, climbing the Stairway to Heaven.
