You dont need to go online for games in order for your wii to be upto date. Sometimes you need to update to be able to play certain new games (example Mario Galaxy) ect.

Updating your wii will never brick it... if you update it from the net (if you are in the same region you bought your wii from or update it through a game which has the same region as your wii)

With the 360 (I am not 100% on this one, is 360 Reg-Free?) and PS3 they are region free so no matter what dollars are sent all over the world it still reaches the right place, to add to this with both of these consoles they don't have such long waiting times with the games like Nintendo does. More points are: 1. they are still at least getting money and 2. they are probably stopping people from having to mod their systems and 3. after you have modified your Wii just to get a game early, it (piracy) all begins. You will probably copy every game from there on.

I don't think there is a No option, just an OK.

Well nothing should happen really. Just make sure both the Wii and Game are the same region.
