Should in fact take way less time but dunno why...i have literally done all I can to take away any start up programs but it is just slow...

It is even slower than my pc which is a pentium 4 2.4ghz on 768mb of ram...

Prob time to reinstall everything...will get around to it eventually

Free everything entire system can be reprogrammed from scratch, themes, programs can be edited to do anything you like, plus every console will eventually be hacked so you can run your distro of choice on it.

according to intel it is 1.66Ghz...hmmm

Prob just time for reinstall...but I usually hibernate so it starts up in about 20secs...

I back up Rus here, Linux... is very compatible, it's similar to mac, and does come with all it's own programs embedded in which means compatibility isn't an issue because you don't often need more to be compatible with!

Generally laptops pre-built from shelves won't support it, after asking around it's a bloody miracle my mobo actually supports it.

My opinion on macs are that they are the most advanced system out there, kicking Vista's arse. I still prefer Vista, mainly for the price, and it's market share is the partial cause for it's problems. But again, I've seen more glitches in XP, and when things 'just work' it means theres nothing to fix, then i get bored

I sit inbetween.

In my opinion some computers come with too many pointless accessories, or at least some that i will never use, i.e a Webcam, a Bluray compatible drive. To me some of this stuff is useless, the EeePC is really lightweight and convenient for work as well as travel.
The Linux version is $100 dollars cheaper than the Windows version of the very budget PC and does all the same things, i.e mp3's and .doc files. Fully Recommend it.
Only 450 bucks, cannot possibly argue with that: Same price as iPods used to be.

Vista is good, linux is good, mac is good I want all 3, and I'm buying my second HDD soon and im deciding between running linux off a USB or a partition on the vista drive...

I was thinking of XP today but I really don't need it for anything.

In ubuntu i have a few driver problems but nothing that cant be solved with a little research. Linux is however still years off being any kind of competition to windows. And Mac, well..... "I-Gimmick" is all i have to say about Mac.

So for me its PC. At the end of the day you can run all OS's on a pc. It only lacks the Mac style.

One Mac OS 9 (ibook) and one MacBook (OS X).
Ok, I don't own all of them, I have siblings. Though I like to use the MacBook, even though it's not mine. I own a crappy Windows XP Laptop....

No HDMI on the current model laptops. It does have a dgital out port so with an adapter you could connect it to a hdmi tv. Mine has a 250 HD, 2.4 ghz, @ gb ram. it plays crysis and all the current high demanding games fine, ( tuned down a touch though )
