Optical drive Units:

360: 8.5 gig (dual layer DVD)

PS3: 25 gig (blu-ray)

Total floating point performance in Tera FLOPS:

360: 1

PS3: 2

(Tera being a pre-fix meaning 1,000,000,000,000 or 10 to the 12)
(flops being an acronym meaning FLoating point Operations Per Second)

As for the HDD's, they can both be replaced.

Now feel free to argue about any other points you'd like. These are totals.

Yes please check the facts on any site you like, but if you want to get picky about which system has the biggest nuts then go by the numbers.

The Wii is about how to play not what it look's like. Which by the way is much better then a PS2. (Graphics I mean. 480p might be crap HD but it's HD none the less!) This is only true though if it's actually made for the Wii and not just ported by lazy software companies from the PS3's older brother.

So I say to you: "Let this knob have his opinion. It doesn't make it right just because he has one."

Comparing the PS3/360's evolution in graphics is not really the same as the evolution of Zelda from 2D to 3D...thats adding another dimension not just making it pretty. Half-Life 2 for example blew everyone away with physics (as well as everything else) that was pretty much a massive leap forward in tech and has since become the norm. New technology to look out for now that the Wii couldn't handle would be completely destructible terrain which is fast becoming the new "thing" in FPS. This takes a massive amount of processor grunt which I doubt the Wii has - all graphical issues aside.

Its not all about graphics, the system power is used for other things too...

Now I'm not telling you to exclude Microsoft. If you want a Threesilly then go for it but don't try the bully bit as shortly you'll see the first "next gen" console bounced out of the market.

Now in saying all that, the Wii is a good console in its own right. It caters to a younger demographic, sure. Clearly visible in the games available and the content within those games. But saying it's "better" based on sales is a load of caca. If anything, all three consoles blow. If ever there was a perfect console, it would have been the N64. Definitely no

If Wii is indeed a step back console wise, it's the right direction to take because it makes people make that all important step to move forward and become gamers..

It's not about the console specs, it's not about the games. It's about the people playing the games... People in management just don't understand this - their language is dollars, cents and the bottom line.

Like it or not, it's GOOD for the entire video game industry because the market is bigger now, and it throws in a much needed breath of fresh air. So Sony and M$ fanbois should rejoice as well as ultimately they will reap the benefits down the road too..

Some people will always hate the Wii, but I love it for the fact that it may well be the spark that's needed to rejuvenate the gaming industry again.

Thanks. I hate the old chase of polygon counts, frame rates, number of NPCs, physics etc. The game industry thought it was moving forward and it didn't realised in doing so it left a lot of people behind.

Kudos for Nintendo for actually bothering to slow down and expand the gamer base.

Last I checked, there were a LOT of people playing over Live and the overall interest in the console has been higher than ever. Three friends of mine went out to buy a 360 last week simply for GTA4. But I guess I can't count that as a source because it doesn't link to a website, eh?

Listen, my initial post (or two) never suggested I was favouring one console over the other. I distinctly said all three next-gen consoles blow compared to the likes of the N64. If its not hardware flaws, it's the software. If not the software, it's the general interest. All I was saying is it's not fair to dismiss someone else's opinion and cover it with "yeah well we sold more than you so HAH!".

Competition is balls. I play games if they interest me. 360 games interest me. Doesn't make me a fanboy....or does it now?

The long and short of it is that the three console companies focus on three very different things:

Nintendo - Interaction.
Microsoft - Online facilities.
Sony - Multimedia Entertainment.

As such how do any of them win or lose?
It comes down to what the individual wants.
The only real problem with the 360 is Microsoft backed the wrong horse in the form of the HD-DVD. This hurt the 360's projected life span.

Now I can understand why people try to compete with what they see as the competition. It's human nature to want to have/be the best.
Let's face it. The companies that make the consoles do it but that's profit centric based.

I've just sold my Wii. To be honest I'm bitterly disappointed with all consoles this generation. To me, all consoles have become obsessed with pushing their technological agendas. For the Wii, this means turning every game into a simplified waggle fest and sacrificing gameplay. For Xbox360 and PS3 it means 5-6 hour drop-dead gorgeous titles with varying degrees of actual gameplay depth.

In my opinion, no company has got the balance between marketing, technology and fun right. I spent more time playing Virtual Console and Gamecube games than I did Wii games. That's not right. Granted each console has a few good games (Zelda, Mario, Metroid, GTAIV, Bioshock etc) but no console is performing particularly well.

I'm going to look into a DS next. From what I've heard and seen there seems to be a good balance there between traditional fun and new stylus control. However, if the DS comes up short for me I think I'll be sitting gaming out for a while.
