nintendo i believe is doing this so they can get more money and demand that is a trick that is well known down here in north Philly business but to get on subject yes i believe you should be able to do that there was a time before Christmas rush you could.........

Yeah but you see, the Wii has been out for what, like 15 months. In 15 months they have sold 23 million consoles, or thereabouts.

Nintendo were manafacturing 1 million of them a month to start with, then after a few months 1.5 million, by purchasing more factories, and now they are making 1.8 million per month. So if you average that out it equates to something like 1.4 million consoles per month over 15 months... which, hey, is like 22.5 million consoles. So no wonder they are hard to find.

I mean, Nintendo wouldn't have expected it to sell this crazy. It's turned out to be the new iPod of gaming! I really think that if Nintendo could have the world supplied with them right now, with their biggest game hitting shelves they would. I mean, I believe the only reason we are getting smash bros later is because they are waiting to get machines into stores, they'd be crazy not to.

So no, if you do the math it doesn't seem suss at all. If it were any other console selling at their usual meagre rate, then YES, that would be suss.

Same, I got mine late June last year ... was going to get it at Kmart (they had 4 in stock) but wandered over to Dick Smith and they had a number in stock as well ... and cut me a deal

You guys just need to go to Armidale to buy a Wii, that is all

the 360 has been on sale since Nov 2005. a full year later the Wii was released, but the total Wii units sold has surpassed that of the 360.

Nintendo already sold 20 million Wiis to date, while the 360 sold around 18 million (and it had a headstart of about a year).

i'm sure that the 15%+ console issues has had an effect on 360 sales.

I lay-buyed a Wii at EBGames for $349 (preowned) and the day I was going to pick it up, I decided to ring Cash Converters, and as soon as I rang, they said that they had just been sold one and were selling it for $295!!! So I got that and had enough money to get Wii Sports, Wii Play With Second Wii Remote, 1,000 Wii Points and still be able to get Brawl!!!

How lucky is that!?

Gaetano just look for one. It seems alittle stupid to expect the entire world to stop just to sort out your problem, ask if everything's ok, look around to make sure and then get back to spinning. Nintendo are still selling well. The demand has dropped alittle but that's due to PS3 sales figure increases.

As for why you can walk in and buy a 360 anywhere...Hahaha with a +15% problem rate I'd leave it there for someone else to buy too.

i understand it is frustrating but you don't give up until all the stores are sold out.. which is not in this period..

and don't forget wii is the current fastest selling console and it is no surprise if they could sold out in one day...

I ordered my wii on the 3rd of january from my local harvey norman (because that is the only place that would accept my $500 centre gift vouchers) and I only got in on the 6th of march and not because they had been giving them to other people I live accross the road so i was in there every thursday which is their shipment day and in that 2 months they only got 3 in. You just have to keep trying and every day that you dont order them it is making it longer until you can get your hands on one because most shipments are going to those people that have already ordered.
