currently looking for work, though do have a small job as a promoter for new anime and manga magazine, SHiN (www.shinmedia.org) working as a promoter is main at the moment though hoping to get on as writer to some degree.
Dont know what this job pays yet but i'll be working at Supanova Melbourne at the end of this month so i'll have a good idea after that what i'll expect to be paid. Hope its near $300 for the 2 and a half days work (being casual rate) though im not holding my breath, just enough money to put towards me getting a ps3 =D *plus the bonus is with the job is getting free entry into conventions and also free stuff from sponsors
*
5th year out of high school and well i havent done as well as i had hoped at this point, though i did go to TAFE for 3 years for more study (digital media related). Last year decided to look for work..........yeah that worked out well.*cough*

Yeah that's true however, i ain't gonna go through Childcare my whole life. One more year and i'll have to go to Uni to get a masters in teaching so i can teah primary school kids.
ChildCare workers do A LOT of work but the pay isn't as good as it should be.

???
Frodo just said he gets $23 an hour as a childcare worker (which in my books in massive wages, i've never earnt more than $19 base rate) but you then say tradesman tend to earn good wages even tho i know that a fully trade qualified Mechanic who's just finished his apprenticship earns less than $16 an hour.

Seconded, I had a big rant in response to the same message but my laptop battery died (too much typing
).
As an almost graduate (I have another 24 months at 3 units a semester to finish my combined degree) who works full time in the mining industry I feel I can state with some certainty that almost everyone in the industry is over valued in terms of pay and that the majority of lower and middle management is under qualified in terms of skill.
The pay rates cannot go on as they are, I am paid ~$10,000pa more than I would be at the moment in any other area, and with China gearing up to start fully exploiting their own mineral reserves as well as the current trend in moving towards "green" energy the price of coal will start to fall having a significant effect on the industry.

Well Mywii is the wrong place to be looking for jobs if you ask me. But what I was getting at is that people put to much emphasis on pay and not enough on job satisifation and lifestyle. For example the people who tell you how much they can earn in the mines, but what they don't consider is that often you have to work 60 plus hour weeks away from your wife and kids, you don't get good professional development (in my field anyway), house prices in mining towns are more expensive and the majority of the young boys waste all the dose on boose because they have nothing better to do.
Personally I am happier to settle for a job which pays say 20-30K less in the city buying a house which will hold its value that does not rely on the mining boom and be able to work 8 to 5 each day, come house to my missus and live the city lifestyle. Each to there own I guess.
But by writing this in response, I guess I have just contradicted my "who cares seriously' quote, but hey s**t happens and I should get back to work.

Did he go to Uni or did he take up a trade?
They would of had a trade to be working at bhp for starters, then work thier way up unless they knew "someone" then giving the opp to go uni while being paid..
unless ya not the son or daughter of the boss, ya have to work ya way up.
asked anyone who works in a large company, if i wanted a management job where i work, i have to wait till some one retired or dies it just the way of life.
yeah ok.

I think your onto something BlakKnight: Why can't waffles be a type of monetary system. Aristotle used iron sticks back in 100 BC and were suppose to be one of the most effective bartering tools ever used.

Well you would have to go to the
AWM - Automatic Waffle Machine
WANK - Waffle Bank
And the illegal waffle making would be rampant - have to stamp the waffle with an authentic mark.

You think the police would start checking out who's buying the ingredients for waffles?
They would need the 'AFWP' : Australian Federal Waffle Police, to suss out those buying flour, sugar, milk and eggs all at once!!!
