And now for a little Depth.
The third installment of Guitar Hero, with finally reach Nintendo this October, with a selection of innovations for the series. The gaming public still holds strong to their theories of wiimote style guitars, rumors of which haven't been dispelled by Activision. The likelihood of the wii guitar's getting customizable Gibson Les Paul faceplate's like the other platforms is also very high. What is most exciting though, is the integration and small differences the wii version will have over the others, the development team have announced that they wish to explore the wii's unique technology to bring GH to the gaming community like never before.
Another bonus the Wii edition will gain is the use of Wiiconnect24, to buy and gain extra tracks (online multiplayer has not yet been completely confirmed). The main difficalties here would be:
1. The space required to store the extra tracks. The Wii contains 312 usable inbuilt flash memory, with VC games such as N64 releases taking up large sections of that, and with each GH track taking around 10 mb each, thats a large ask for the Wii's storage ability. Which leads to the use of either an unannounced external storage unit, or the SD card option. The main flaw in the SD card theory is that all usage of SD cards for storage on the Wii so far requires the Data to first be saved on the Wii then migrate to the card. *I wouldn't mind a guitar pick SD card that I can store in my Wii guitar
)
2. Will the buying system be integrated into GH or will it be done externally through the Wii shop. More likely would it be integrated into the game due to the Wii point system not being appropriate for the profit of the developer. Instead this provides other challengers. Will GH release a similar Wii point system for their game or require a Credit Card system which could seat younger gamers in the dark? Only time will tell.
Overall the game will be getting a fairly refreshing makeover for this release, with a more realistic button scheme being released for more authentic guitar play. It will also feature original performances by the artists themselves, which will be an interesting bonus for Guitar Hero fans. But what is going to make or break Guitar Hero Wii, will be how they integrate the accelerometer and even internal wiimote speakers to make everyones lounge room feel even more like a mosh pit.
