News \ Resident Evil 5 for Wii?

In a recent interview with Kotaku, Simon Jeffery (president of Sega of America) spoke about core gaming and Nintendo. Whilst discussing some upcoming titles that address the needs of the Nintendo core gamer he made reference to release of Resident Evil 5 for Wii.

Could it just have been a slip of the tongue? Or is there more Zombie/infected butt kicking coming to our little white box?

Capcom have since denied that RE5 is Wii bound. But who knows what the future may hold? While it may seem unlikely (to most people) at this point, the coming of Dead Rising offers a glimmer of hope to the Nintendo faithful that big games for grown-ups can and will eventually make their way to Wii.

Got one, but if this game were to (hypothetically) make an appearance on Wii, I'd opt for an IR aiming system over higher resolution any day of the week.

Valid points indeed. If you have the better console, it's always safe to get the game on that one if it's a cross-platform game. Why substitute quality for good control scheme?

Silly Guyver, PS3 is for rich people.
Seriously, despite recent price drops, PS3 is STILL too expensive for me. I'm sure most people can't afford it either.

XBOX 360 appeals to me personally a lot more then PS3 does, anyhow.

Unlike the rest of you, I won't lose hope. Bigger miracles have happened before in the gaming industry. Like I said before, I signed a petition that has over 100,000 signatures and will eventually be passed on to CAPCOM themselves.

Never say never. It's like (I'm talkin' waaaay back) when they release Donkey Kong Country for the Gameboy Colour nobody believed that it would be possible but they (Rare) did it. Similarly when Capcom ported Street Fighter 2 to the Gameboy. It was a bit slower and there were button limitations but the core gameplay arrived pretty much intact.

I don't care if they have to downscale the graphics to match the quality of RE4, it's the story I care about, not the insanely high resolution. Many higher res games on 360 have some lag anyway (Ninety Nine Nights, anyone?). I don't want to have to buy an XBOX 360 JUST for this game. I'm pretty sure they would get much more sales if they released it on Wii too, and it would require minimal effort on CAPCOM's part as it's easier to downscale high-res graphics to low-res then it is vice versa.

EDIT: Come to think of it, on the XBOX 360/PS3 versions, there should be SD/EDTV options. If they just produced it for the Wii using that, there should be no problem.

RE4 was developed for Gamecube. Gamecube was on par with XBOX are the post powerful console last generation. Wii is on par with Gamecube.
