I have the Nintendo Component cables and it certainly does make a difference. Shame now there is no more component cables on the TV for my DVD player, PC input thingy.

This accessory is a must have, if you've run out of inputs buy a system selecter. Makes the picture look so much better.

Has anyone made a comparison with these and the official nintendo ones?

Realistically do you get the same performance?

Yes it is a HD cable, it displays 480p (or was it 480i - I keep forgetting. Just check in the display settings).

For those of you with regular TV's: This cable works beautifully with it. You must have the inputs which not many regular TV's have. Zelda tends to be a bit blurry on my TV with the regular composite cables, but using component cables makes Zelda look very clear. I'm using the genuine Nintendo cables, not 3rd party.

I saw two models at myer, one for 19.95 and another for 29.95. The one for 29.95 is the one shown above. I have run out of ports on the back of my television sadly, but is it worth to get the one for 19.95, the one shown above for 29.95 or should I just stick to the composite cables considering I will have too by a system selector as well?

I say go for component where possible and get the bargain cables.

Higher quality builds (sometimes associated with a higher price point) usually have better quality materials and insulation, however, There should be no difference in quality between one set of component cables to another provided that you don't have 'MASSIVE' amounts of interference (i.e. having the cables wrapped around a running hair dryer or similar)

greatly improves sound quality when you have great hi-fi and not so great with picture difference however the difference is there.
All up these cables are better all round compared to the standard cables.

I've read this about the sound quality a few times but I fail to see how this is possible? Isn't it still essentially just a left and right rca cable? How is that different to the standard composite cable? I can understand (and see for myself) the difference in terms of visual quality, and that's obviously because the video signal is getting split into 3 spectrums... But the sound? Sounds the same to me.

Edit: maybe there's a tiny difference to an audiophile because of better quality metal in the wires or better shielding or whatever, but that is gonna be pretty small beans, surely, when it is still just a stereo rca cable.

While this provides only 480p when the Xbox 360 and the PS3 provide 1080p, the image looks a lot sharper and clearer than just using the normal AV cables.

I picked up a set of Nintendo cables for the Wii from Kmart, on 'special' for $39.65; I'm not sure what the regular price is but they look nice and seem to do the job.

Haven't noticed a massive difference in games with this, but the Wii menu looks sharper at least in 480p.
