Wii Hardware \ Wifi Usb adaptor

Hello all, Im relatively new to consoles, just got a Wii recently and
I'm just after opinions or more.. reassurances if you like, on the best way to go.
All I really want to do is download virtual console games, I'm not a huge gamer and don't really want to play online.
Is the USB adaptor effecient enough just to download Virtual Console games? My computer is only within a few metres of my Wii and I have optusnet cable broadband without any router.
