Well, I have a kind of sick curiosity, and I look forward to passing away, as I cannot wait to see what happens. Also, I have felt pretty low before, but I did my best to make myself come off as positive.

Passing away is really overated. I am against this, always espress your feelings. Some extreme cases are excluded.

normally no. but sometimes (where need be/use your own descretion), fake it till you make it lol. simple as that.

edit: Also, most of the time unhappiness is a period of growth. Plus it builds resilience.

If you are faking happiness to the outside world, or even worse to yourself, then you are giving away any chance you have of being truly happy. If you spend all your efforts trying to pretend that you're happy, where is there room left to actually make yourself happy?

Or more of a good question to ask is why we feel the need to pretend to everyone that we are happy when we're not? Why would we worry about putting other people's mind at ease by making them think that everything's okay, by not burdening them with our problems, in effect trying to please everyone else and make them happy when we can't even put that much effort into pleasing ourselves, making ourselves happy?

Do you ever really know when you are happy though? Or is it just that you know that you're not unhappy so you assume that you must be happy? Does contentness equal happiness?

You get away from it.

Me, I try to be as happy and funny as possible at all times. (well maybe not here, but if real life I am.) And I hardly ever get angry at things.

happyness is a relative term. u could be unhappy because you get beat up by your husband.. fair enuf, but then you could be unhappy cos you didnt win at the casino. sometimes u need to make a change, and sometimes u need to suck it up, because even the children in africa put a smile on their faces in the morning. the advice i've been given is, "theres always someone worse off than you"

Sometimes depressed people depress themselves more because they dwell.

I'm not saying accept a bad situation and just hack it.

Happiness comes from inside. Sure there are factors on the outside that can annoy you or irritate or pull you down but to generate that good feeling, it needs to come from inside. I don't think you can rely on outside factors alone. A new job, gf, victory... all may help but I think happiness will always be a state of mind we need to work on to achieve.

Sometimes it is easier for others. I think those people know how to look towards positives and opportunities, while the sad ones see the darkness. Perhaps a bad situation masks the sunshine, but hope can light the way.

If you show too much sadness on the outside, or negative energy, other people around you will be brought down too. First you may get sympathy, but if you continue, It becomes unattractive so may worsen your situation.

Whereas if you are cheery / positive, when times are tough, people will admire that. The positive energy will be inspiring and bring people around you up, instead of down.

If you are VERY unhappy, talk to someone about it. If you have nobody to talk to, go and tell your doctor.

However, for those who are not clinically depressed, here is a little experiment for you. Other people tend to mirror your response to them. If you are cheerful and talkative and smile when dealing with strangers they will be the same back to you.

If you act cheerful in all your dealings with others, you will inhabit a world of cheerful people who smile back at you, and that will make you feel happier and more cheerful.

You need to fake it at first, especially if you are not the world's most chipper person, but after a while it becomes second nature and life if better.

Try it, it really does work.

i could say its wrong, but i would be a hipocrite haha i have other ways of expressing myself anyway. i write my feelings. and once i did that it funny to see that i wasnt alone at being alone and soon enough i had an entire blog group writing how they felt and together we would work ourselves out hahaha
and thats my story!

i think 'attention' is made out to be a bad thing. if you get it...you're just a whore. and especially the 'emo' culture..people say they crave attention but is that a crime? maybe by saying that you want the attention. i mean, ill be the first to admit, it wouldnt be bad if someone actually cared about how i felt or what i had to say. if you are genuinely upset...then you should act genuinely upset. if you hide it, you're going to damage yourself.

by the way that blog site was www.amateuryouth.blogspot.com

I saw i doco on this.. seems to me that the body is designed to reward those who act happy... weird

I don't think people 'fake' happiness so much as try to force it on themselves, if you really are depressed you need to figure out the cause and fix it rather than forcing a smile day after day.

Why does it have to be either or. I think you can go find the cause of what ever is bothering you and also put up a good show as well.

No body has to be happy all the time, but you don't have to be sooky all the time either. Which is why you put on your best smile, so you are ready to greet the world even on those lousy days.

If you expect a gloomy day, you are more likely to get one.. and so the problem continues or exacerbates.

For:
*A smile can make people feel better, even though you feel like crap.
*Faking happiness can resolve issues faster instead of bringing out your true feelings. Hence making the problem worse because you say things you dont mean
*When you get something you DONT want for xmas we ALL fake happiness right? Because making our true feelings shown will make the other person who gave you the present for not being grateful. Might as well sugar coat it

Against:
*Faking can backfire, this is because faking to be happy when your not will just make you feel worse! Should talk to your best friend about it.
*You can only fake your happiness for a certain amount of time before you snap. Possibly causing yourself a breakdown
*Your TRUE friends can see pass fake happiness! So why bother?

Theres my 2 cents on this topic
