I am planning on getting a laptop for my birthday, and I wanted to know what is the best brand to buy, anybody had troubles with certain ones? Etc.

I saw a good cheap one at JB-HiFi for $750 with $100 cash back, does anyone think I should take that?

Business HPs can be had for around $1100.

Business Laptops have a much better build quality compared to Consumer (The like that you would find from Department Stores, Officeworks/Harveynoman .etc)

Buy from Computer Stores.
Stay away from Acer. Far away.

There's nothing wrong with Toshiba, I have had a couple, like good ones around 4k and I have never had any problems.

A desktop is your best bet for both of those. Laptops can't support hardware with high power requirements (and that are large ), and because the screen and keyboard are integrated, it is not ergonomically sound.

In any case, Dell is reliable, but incredibly overpriced.
