Guys, you know Variety magazine is like huge and reputable. It's like reading a movie review in a newspaper. You should never make up your mind until you see it (or play it).
I maybe going out on a limb here, but i actually agreed with some of the reviewers points.
1. He states that the wii is mostly played as a party console or for grandma to play bowling - this is actually quite true.
2. He also says that the game consists of just solving puzzle and finding hidden shorcuts and powerups - this is also true, but that is the Metroid franchise and not Halo.
3. "Metroid Prime 3" does a splendid job with its "you-are-there" vibe. Gorgeous graphics help, even if they are conspicuously chopped into small rooms to be loaded and played one at a time. - what's wrong with that statement? It's true
4. Those who previously used the Wii only for party games will need a 13 year-old boy to explain it all. - this is also true.
Me, I love the game and am 50% through it. I love the puzzles and the back and forth through levels. I love Zelda and this is same concept. Having played Metroid 1 and 2 I understand the game. Some people don't, but they are allowed their opinions. Obviously this guy thought it was going to be a Halo clone and was dissapointed. Me, I am glad it is not a Halo clone.
