The problem has nothing to do with the modification, but faulty hardware from Nintendo, as hundreds of other people have had this problem on many many forums.

Guess I have to put up with it, pretty crappy though, had my Xbox modded for 4 years, running for days on end, and never ever had a single problem with it.

Doesn't say much for Nintendo ... it is my first Nintendo console and will probably be the last one i'll buy.

Pity because it is a fun toy.

Yeah, I was thinking that's what I will do first. Ring them and say what the problem is, and they might say, yeah that's a common problem.

Then i'll just be honest and say, the waranty is void since it has had a modification done, therefore ask how much it would cost to repair it.

It isn't dead pixels, it is a GPU corruption and is quite common in Wii's.

I also took some photo's of my screen with my camera so you can see how bad they are.

And this is on a 5 week old Wii, which has not been used much at all.

As for your situation, I would remove the Wiikey, then send it in, and you MAY get a new Wii back for you to install the Wiikey back into. That's what I would do. Otherwise, Nintendo MAY just say nope too bad, pay for a new Wii or put up with it (basing that on the fact that my Wii was replaced, not repaired).

And I must point out that you are giving Nintendo a hard time unfairly. ("Doesn't say much for Nintendo ... it is my first Nintendo console and will probably be the last one i'll buy.") You took a risk by modding it. The pixelation is normally a small problem that Nintendo solve efficiently and without hassle at all. But you complicated the issue, so blame yourself not Nintendo. And I honestly mean that in the friendliest way possible - just so I don't start a riot or anything.

I reckon to take the Wiikey out of the Wii and send it in as they most likely won't even open the Wii up. They'll plug it in and say "graphics artifacts = new Wii" and send it out. And you'll be able to have a new working Wii and just reinstall your Wiikey. That's what I would do.

Like it has been said ealier here, i would just take out the chip and send it back to nintendo. Im sure nintendo has no time to be checking and opening all Wii's that are sent back if they've been modified. What they'll probably do is test the wii and see that it has a graphical error (dead pixels) and send you a new one. As im sure they have seen this problem a number of times already they wont question it and as for the modifying i wouldn't see a point of nintendo needing to open up your wii for this problem (unless you are unlucky and they do).

You don't really have anything to lose taking the chip out and sending the console back, I guess the worst that could happen is Nintendo refuse to RMA it. If you're lucky I guess they might just plug it in and test without opening up, so see how you go.
