I noticed some of you collect Video Game Series. I am looking at maybe getting into this but would like some suggestions of what series to collect. I already have one Series done and the good thing about this Series (Kinda good, kinda bad) is that they dont make it any more so its complete.

Any help would be great

I wish I could help you there, but unfortunately I am all over the place with my collections. I pretty much collect everything and anything with videogames as you may already know.

Just out of curiosity, what do you have the complete collection of? I might be able to give you some indication of what you should try to collect...

Personally, I reacon ALL platforms you should be collecting the series for. I think it looks better, especially when you get it together for a photo

I guess my most complete series of games would have to be Mortal Kombat, I am sure I have around 90% of all the games on all platforms.

1) the entire series for each console/handheld/PC etc.
2) all regions (Japan, US, etc) and special editions.
3) posters, cards, boxes, memorabilia, action figures, etc.
4) accessories/peripherals (for example, the Resident Evil GC chainsaw controller).

part of the joy of collecting comes from the search, the countless hours you spent trying to find the copies you need, and from watching your collection slowly grow.

As what Hainaku says, he's correct as well.

Believe me, I have that many doubles of Mortal Kombat it's not funny. But that's the nature of the collecting business, especially if you're going for the same series.

Despite there being doubles of the same game, the same game will look different on different platforms (except for Resident Evil 4, which Gamecube and Wii look pretty identical, and PS2 version isn't too far off, just slightly grainier).

Bah, I think sticking to the PAL version should be sufficient. You only go NTSC if it's rare and you can get it for cheap. A little research won't hurt if you are quite keen to make money off of it.

Personally, I love Mortal Kombat, I wasn't too fussed on whether it's worth a lot of money or not. The only one I have that would be worth quite a fair bit would be Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 for the Super Nintendo (PAL) which is rare as all hell. I did collect Mortal Kombat for my American Super Nintendo, only because it was handy to buy and cheap, plus the resolution is bigger, being the whole PAL NTSC problem with that console.

And dodgy pirate versions as well.

I bought a cheap Mortal Kombat 3 for the Super Famicom (SNES), which turned out to be a pirated one (sort of). They basically ripped out the American cartridge and put it into the Super Famicom cartridge case, since these games are interchangeable, it's only the case limiting it from playing.

That's a pretty good idea. Not too many there. I think the one that's worth quite a lot at the moment is the Super Metroid for Super Nintendo. Gamecube Metroid 1 and 2 are still pulling around $50 each as well.

I think i'm just missing the Super Nintendo version, and obviously the Wii version

Well, that's the best way to start (PAL versions). Don't forget to get your butt to Cash Converters or any similar pawn brokers to get some really cheap deals, and obviously eBay as well!

Grand Theft Auto would be a pretty good series, I suppose. But I think the main item that would really tie that collection together would be the very first GTA 3 version on PS2, which was uncensored or whatever it was, before the re-released it again, censored.

I just had a thought, you're gonna have fun trying to buy Resident Evil 2 for Nintendo 64. I think that's the most pricey game out of the series, since it is fairly rare!

i dont have the real version of the pc games only copies and the outbreaks are unopend as i never got around to getting me ps2 online that all the pal versions i have and know of. i bought re2 on the n64 when it first came out smart move on my part stil got box aswell

the dual shock verison is just the directors cut with capability of using the thumb sticks
