But the bottom line is you're buying a gaming system to play games, and the DS is much, much better in the gaming department.

Actually, due to Sony's poor consumer consideration it's almost impossible for anyone with an average skill in technology to use ANY of the media functions on the PSP.

I don't know why you would want to. The UMD doesn't have all that much storage space. You'd be better off buying a portable DVD player.

Ok...

1) UMD's have been phased out, no-one was buying them since they cost more than their DVD counter-parts and had less features and worse quality.

2) The 'new' PSP is just lighter... that's it...

Actually, it's also thinner, has a better-designed D-pad and rearranged buttons, and stores data in Flash memory so that load times are decreased.

I personally would not spend something like $450 or more just because I wanted something more compact than I already have, but each to their own, I suppose. If you can afford it, why not flaunt it, amirite?

There was a TV-Out attachment for the original PSP. It's like a pyramid with a camera at the apex that clips over the screen. It's like $100, but no word on quality.

He meant that UMD movies are phased out, not UMD discs themselves.
