It's all identical. You won't notice the difference. The games must be burnt on the slowest setting (no greater than 4x) plus you must have decent media (DVD's). I use Imation. Work's beautifully for me...

You must have had a bad xbox drive. My xbox works perfectly with the backups. I think you must have used some dodgy dvd's...

Yes, as desi said, compatibility is a little wishy-washy, mainly when it comes to imported games from America and Japan. All PAL games work fine.

As with jac33au's problem, I haven't had that problem myself. There are people out there who have had similar problems, but it's not anything to be worried about.

There is a new firmware update for the chip coming out soon, which will hopefully increase compatibility for more NTSC Wii games on PAL consoles.

Well unlike phat I have actually seen that problem. Sometimes the wii tells me that an error has occurred and I have to reboot.

No big drama but.

Yeh exactly. Although your heart does miss a beat everytime it takes those few seconds longer on the black screen. Its abit like the windows bluescreen of death.

ISO's with wiikey shud run fine unless....

1. U have a bad installed wiikey,
2. The Region of the game is different from ur console
3. U have burned them wrong
4. The dvd u have used to burn is crap and cheap (sometimes the wii dvd rom dont work well with some brands)

The occasional error occurred like anniwore said above is normal has happened to me like 3 times since i got my wiikey so no big deal.

Now even though I have the latest firmware the damn game still says its updating the console...

I dont care how many times that happens I nearly cry while I wait for it to reboot...

But why would you need to update the disk anyways???

U can get rid off the updating region with a program.. then u shud have no worries, plus it gives u a question if u wanna update or not it doesnt just update by itself...

Running the patch on the ISO doesn't get rid of the automatic update on the disc. Super Paper Mario had the update. Just making sure your Wii is up-to-date with it's firmware is all you need to protect against "Bricking" your Wii.

Dude u can get rid of the automatic update on the disk ....
its a program called Wii Brick Blocker ive used it and its being used as well gets rid of the updating part on the ISOs... soooo YES u can get rid of it!

For you guys in the US then maybe a program like that is necessary but here in OZ our firmware is newer than yours and will probably always be so It doesnt impact on us.. We can run the NTSC games without a problem (provided our Wii's are updated)'

Edit** Brain Academy also has an update but it could possibly be a PAL one. Not to sure but it definately tried to update my console.

Well, that was the only time i've had worries about a game stuffing up my Wii. Most people should try to aim for PAL games, since a lot more of the American NTSC games will not run at all on PAL Wii's, especially games made by Nintendo themselves, regardless of them being patched...

ummm not really anniwore... some NTSC games dont work on PAL machines... i have a PAL machine.

So in reality not all NTSC games work without a problem take Brain for example... NTSC version dont work on PAL ...

But we were talkin about the Updates on the games anyways

But like u said.... if u have a PAL game for a PAL machine no probs

I seriously think I must have downloaded a NTSC version labelled as PAL.

Anyway no biggy! Its all working.

As for JAc. have you tried paper Mario. That 100% has an update included. So unless your getting post patched games then you will see the update.
