Well lucky for you it should be fine. Put your itunes library on an external drive formatted for mac and Windows should be able to read it, just won;t be able to write anything to it

AND make sure you enable windows sharing for your mac? You will need to do that in the network settings, and make sure that you have set the drive to be shared

Or burn the songs to a DVD and then transfer it. Or use an SD Card.

Right... shall we give you some correct answers now! :^)

1) Go to System Preferences, and then go to 'Sharing'

2) Look for 'Windows Sharing', and tick the box to enable it.

3) Click on the Accounts button which should be on the right of that window, and tick the accounts that you want to allow access from Windows. At the bottom of this is the address that you can use on the PC to connect to this computer, make a note of this.

4) Go to Windows Explorer on the PC, choose to 'Map A Network Drive', and enter the address mentioned above. Login with your username and password from the Mac, and you should now have access to the Mac drive.

I KNOW for a fact this works, as I have it setup at the shop here. I have all my admin stuff on the Mac, but I have to use windows for the software to run the shop. So I simply have my Mac drive connected (as above) and I can access the files from the PC.

OH... and yes, you can write to the drive too!! Some people have no idea! :^)

And that's exactly why I'm using Mac's now. I've spent the last 20+ years working through DOS, Windows, Linux and Mac (amongst others), and have pretty much stuck with Mac & OSX full-time for the last 4+ years. (We've had Mac's in the house for the last 15 years though as my wife is a graphic designer/illustrator).

I'm yet to load a driver onto my mac for any external peripheral.. digital cameras, digital video cameras, printers, scanners, drawing tablets etc etc, all 'just work'.

And while MS have historically made it difficult for anything other than a windows PC to belong to a windows network, Mac will 'just work' on windows or linux networks without requiring any extra software.

Enjoy your MBP mate... I'm waiting for my new one to arrive any day!

hahaha.. nice try!! But you sucked me in....... :^)

There only needs to be a handful of apps because they just work... unlike Windows where there are 43 different versions of the same program, because none of them actually work at all!! :^)

Chances are, you'll find what you want as open source, free, or very cheap, in the relevant places (i.e. macupdate/version tracker etc) whereas I find in the Windows world, everyone wants to charge you lots of money for nothing.

Hehe relax. The troll tags show sarcasm!

Arguing over which OS is better is, to me, like arguing over the different wattages of lightbulbs. They each have their specific purpose, and they all do the same thing in the end.

But for the record, I like 100-watt lightbulbs.

Then what are Unix-based systems for? T-shirts, I suppose.

Snap.

Do you actually have occasion to use Unix in OSX, or is it there just in case?

Ever used a text-only browser? Check in on the thread over at www.mywii.com.au/

I'm trying to get people talking about Lynx.

So you think because I was open for the change from PC to Mac that you will be able to corrupt my mind now with text based Browsers???

Ahh what the Heck.....hehe

*** UPDATE***

Okay Desi I had a crack at Lynx and this is my Opinion.........

WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!!!!!!! hehehe!

Nah dont mean to knock it but im sooo used to the internet being a graphical platform im not used to all text.

Also found it to load quite slow......But im sure on some sites it could be handy...but majority of sites arent designed to be looked at purely text.

But you enjoy it Desi...

hehe, I can't do text only browsers. During my linux period I tried out lynx and pine for my email. It lasted less than 2 hours. My problem is I spend so long looking at text when I'm coding, I need a break, and so I find using a graphical browser a break for the eyes.

As for Unix in OSX... it's not there "just in case", OSX is built over the top of it. Take out the Unix, there is no OSX. What is there 'in case', is X11 which allows you to run linux programs under OSX. I have done this on several occasions where I wanted to run programs from my linux days on OSX. I find myself needing to use X11 less and less though as a lot of programs are being released natively for OSX. K Desktop is one example, with Koffice etc. There is a native version in the works. Mac software has come a long way in a relatively short time, and quite often you can get what you want as an open source program.
