French gaming website LiveWii has received official word on a topic that has been circulating the rumor mill for the last few months. At a gathering in Cannes, Ubisoft has announced that it is working on a sequel to Red Steel. The Wii launch title sold over a million copies but was released to mixed reviews, and the LiveWii article hints at a revamping of the swordplay system for the second installment.

I think this is great, while I havent picked up Red Steel myself(might do so soon because its cheap now) I was put off by the mixed reviews about the controles, graphics, a.i etc. But I think if those things are corrected and improved upon it could be a fantastic over all game.
What do you guys think?

Its not a bad game. I got up to a part in the game where it kept on saying lost connection to your wii remote even tho my wii remote had full battery power. I hope this one is better.

This is the original game that convinced me to buy a wii. Saw the redsteel videos and i was hooked. It was a good game, a little disappointing though. #2 has the chance to make up for it and all of Ubi's other very crappy Wii games ala gt pro series, monster 4x4 & farcry.

I have a feeling the next 1 will be really good because its a make or break for the series and they have served there apprentiship in getting use to the controls etc.
Monster 4x4 was crap I got it off the Myer deal and cant believe someone paid 80 bux for mine on Ebay lol.

Thats not saying it isn't happening though. After the atrocious mess left after the first one that was so bad the developer had to apologize: www.joystiq.com/ so IF they do a new one, it'd better be infinitly better than Red Steel.

My biggest beef at the moment is Nintendo confirming they won't release a HDD: www.computerandvideogames.com/ but i am still holding out for a software update to allow external HDD's to be used on the Wii via USB. At least they are copying Microsofts XNA dev software and allowing software creation on the Wii in the future: www.computerandvideogames.com/
