Wii Software \ Disks for Wii Game Backups

I am trying to backup a few of my games but i wanted to know what disks are the best for the console. I tried some TDK's but they haven't worked yet. I have a wiikey chip.

I forgot about that. Ive had no success burning a wii game faster than 4x. Some have had success with 16x though. My default setting is 1x. I also had trouble burning with my toshiba laptops teac burner but no trouble with my desktop sony dvdrw drive. Its a bit of hit and miss i think

I have a Pioneer burner. It hates TDK DVD-R's. I wasted half a spindle of 50 everytime I used it. I've stopped obviously.

Now I use Imation DVD-R's. Keep an eye out at Office Works as they quite often have a spindle of 50 for $23-$28. They work great with Wii games.

I burn Wii games at 4x (its the slowest on my Pioneer burner). I discovered the other night I have to use my laptop to burn Gamecube games at 2x because they weren't reading properly at 4x.

I actually have had the most success with wollies magmedia brand DVD-R discs. Ive tried sony, tdk and dse brand discs. Budget all they way at this stage. We will see over time. Ive noticed that when i first chuck in a newly burnt game i have to reset the wii a few times before it can be read. again strange.

On the ripping side...everyone says it takes over 2 hours to rip a game through the LG drive. Mine takes only 1hour 40mins.

How long has everyone's been taking?

Yeah as the guys have mentioned slower burning speed is recommended.
Also some programs might deem the ISO protected and break it, burn with either Nero or Alcohol 120%.

There are 4 LG drives you can use and are hard to get, or if you have a wiikey mod chip, you can use their program which you download off their website, which allows you to backup the game through a special adapter for your gamecube memory port (adapter wher you plug in SD-card into the memory port).

They are like $20 on eBay, or you can make your own with guides on the net.


As far as media goes,
I've never liked Verbatim or TDK.

Official Riteks, Taiyo Yuden and MR.Data are ace.
