Social \ JB, you've done it again (or have you?)

JB normally has great prices (bought 2 PS2 games for $40 today), but what I saw today gave me the ****s.

Noticing the lack of Gamecube stuff? So have I. Well today at JB Hifi, to my delight, I found about 10 controllers, 5 wired, 5 wireless.

But they were still expensive. Wired were $50, and wireless $70. I look around at all of them, and then I see a controller at the bottom with the price tag of $40, so I'm like "awesome", but then I look at the box again, and I see that on the front a $50 price tag was slapped on like with the others. You could see that there was a ripped sticker under the $50 one. So they increased the price!!! AH, GOD!

Agree though just like the games, they were cheap and dying off now they're back up 2 full price and you see that stuff everywhere...so cunning it's down right mean.

They probably were, each region charges differently.

That's a good question. I never saw many around, now they're everywhere so it's more likely they've started remaking them...

thats annoying me too its rare to see cube games and when you do there are still full price it looks like there wont be a price drop until there chucked into the discount bin

What happened to trying to keep prices low? Or was that just an excuse to make the Wii less powerful, easier to make and more profitable? D:

They tend to keep consoles at a reasonable price but it's the games that catch you.
In sales there are 2 main strategies.
Low upfront - high ongoing.
High upfront - low ongoing.

Plus they were also probably scared the Wii could flop because of the cube's history so the price is a safety net and it just turns out it was amazingly profitable for them.

Where an xbox or PS3 cost heaps more their games will get cheaper than Nintendo's...mind you that's not going to stop me buying Nintendo lol.

Luckily for me I had 4 gamecube controllers originally, then one with a turbo thing, then the wavebird. I'm glad there was at least some reward for having to put up with the GC for so many years (other than a few great games).
