Social \ Which One?????? - Locked

Just wonder how many people here are Legit. Are you the sort of person armed with a DVD burner who has like 5 Cd Cases filled with illegitimate and illegal burnt copies of movies you have hired out, or are you like me and have a legit collection of DVD's in thier own cases sitting in a massive display cabinet and you'd probably buy 2-3 DVD's a month (second hand/ebay/brand new). I just bought legit versions of Snakes on a Plane and Silent Hill to add to my collection, where as my G/F has a case full of burnt DVD's she has hired out. Which do you prefer?

Yep. Legal all the way for me. The only time i break the law is when i download a torrent for a game that is unavailable in store, like the PC version of Shadowman for example, or maybe Sacrifice on PC.

Microsoft make DVDs? I don't think, anywhere in my entire collection of legit DVD's, do any of them say at all anything to do with Microsoft. What do you mean about buying legit copies of Microsoft products. If you are talking about Operating Systems like Windows then I agree, i have a totally illegitimate copy of XP, but if you are talking about games, i can't remember Microsoft games being more expensive than other games. It is piracy that increase the price of DVD's. The only reason movie studios charge like $30 per new release DVD is to compensate for the massive piracy industry. You talk about them cutting prices so you will buy legit DVD's, it is the other way around. If less people resorted to piracy, they WOULD lower prices. Nevermind, your brain is too small to understand what i am saying.

I think you are overestimating the film/gaming industries wealth. Take for example a typical PS3 game taking over 10 Million Dollars to make. If that game doesnt sell well legitimatly, one poor game can spell the end for any average development studio. The same is for DVD's. If they invest a lot of money in a big-budget film and it kinda does OK at the box office, they expect DVD sales to make up the difference. The entire piracy industry costs the DVD/Gaming industries countless billions of dollars in revenue. Imagine if piracy didn't exist. Those billions of dollars would be in the pockets of the developers of DVD's and Games, enabling them to produce much better games/dvd's. A world without piracy would be a world with much bigger movie/game budgets and would produce movies/games that are far superior to the movies/games we see today. You can go on if you like contributing to the cycle if you like, but us normal people who like to see big budget movies/games will continue to buy everything legitmatly knowing that our money is going into the next big movie/game.

My god, the idiocy that spews forth from your mouth is making my eyes bleed. Certain movies that i think are worth of a full-price purchase i buy from Big W etc like SAW 3 when it comes out and X-Men 3 for example. Others like Silent Hill and Snakes on a Plane i will wait for ex-rental from the local video store. You can be assured of legit copies if you buy them new/sealed from department stores.

Well son, unless you are 15 yrs old, you are getting ripped off. I am 23 and i havent worked for less than $16 an hour in like 5 yrs.

I like to buy cd's, and only download them beforehand to check the quality of the songs. If I do not like the album I download, I delete it. If I do like it, I will go out and buy it.

Different with movies however. My collection of movies is only what I see as quality, re-watchable media. I only ever have "backups" if the movie was mediocre or something similar.

my ****ing god. that has to be one of the dumbest things i've ever seen written. seriously do you think any company is going to risk the $20,000 fine per unit just to make $5-10 profit. maybe if you'd said parklea markets or something like that i'd give you credit, but **** i work for one of the major retailers and you'd be hard pressed to find any of them dumb enough to do something like that. the legit companies look after us far to well to **** about like that
