Wii Hardware \ Internet question for Wii

Hi,

currently i just have an ADSL modem and once i get my wii i wish to connect it. my ADSL modem only is lanned to my computer and its not a router so i cannot connect any more.

Should i just get a wireless modem? if so, does anyone suggest any good ones? i want adsl2+ as i am with iinet and this shouldnt be a problem.

Also where would be the best place to buy this?

latter would be far cheaper. i'd suggest the D-LINK DI-524 AirPlus®G (4 Port Switch). all the basic features anyone needs, should set you back about 70 bucks. i got mine at umart milton.

hey swiftwilly i suggest going to myers or ebgames and buying the nintendo wifi adapter for 40 bux its the cheapest alternative. Its liek a usb stick that plugs into your pc and enables a wifi hotspot at your house. Your wii and DS can connect to it. I am with iinet too. If you are gonna upgrade to adsl 2+ get the belkin 4 port wireless enabled modem. Its the most expensive one but its really good.

GET a DELINK DSL 604T its a wireless ADSL router (with 4 lan ports) i find it the tops when capped my net goes faster then the capped speed which allows me to have low ping in BF2 hehehe Dont get D-LINK DI-524 AirPlus®G, i Had it and it's shyt big time, its full of bugs.

Whats is the net u r using ADSL or Cable. PLUS make sure to DC ur net connection from ur modem b4 u connect it to the router because ur ISP dont allow two of the same usernames to be signed in

I spent a week with the stupid techinical support and they couldn't figure it out, they just made do the same thing over and over again, I gave up after week as I was not getting anywhere! The problem is that router wouldn't allow me to connect to the internet not even without any security on it!

I've never had any problems seeting up a router before but this one has got me lost!!!

The majority of bandwidth when playing games online is utilized in sending your status up to the game server. The download is Usually just small text code with other player positions and stats that your computer then simulates on screen

dc - DisConnect the internet from the modem. When u change ur modem from PC to ROUTER make sure that u are not connected on the net, this will require u to either go on the modem settings and disconnect your internet connection, or disconnect by the program u are using to log on (in other words logged out). and then connect it to ur router and set up ur connection there as PPPOE (It Can be PPP anything as long as u have the 3 Ps there)

wgr614 routers are notorious for not working on optusnet connections unless you have version 4. Version 4 is the only one of the wgr614's that will work with Nintedo wifi also.

d-link DI-524 are better but you must have version c1 to be able to use it on nintendo wifi.
