Well, I put this in Social 'cause it doesn't really fit into any of the other categories...

Anyway, are there any drivers to allow the Nintendo USB WiFi adapter to work on XP 64-bit edition? 'Cause it doesn't work by default. ><

The 2 operating systems officially supported by the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector are Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista except Beta 2. It does not officially work with the 64-bit version of Windows XP, nor any previous version of Windows, Windows Vista Beta 2, Mac OS X or Linux [1]. Consequently, many users of unsupported operating systems have voiced their dissatisfaction. While various websites have suggested fixes for the connector, Nintendo has yet to announce an official solution. However, unofficial older Windows drivers and Mac OS X drivers are under development. OpenBSD also supports the adapter since the 3.9 release [2].

Yeah, from my experience 64 edition is much like 32 edition, except less stuff works.

I'll probably just go back to 32-bit XP. But thanks anyway Morden.

The question is what is better about xp 64? why would you need it over the 32 bit version.

Check this wikipedia article out.

in particular the 32 vs 64 bit paragraph. Also take not of the second paragraph in there where it talks about the AS/400's architecture and how they were able to move their 32bit OS and any software to 64 bit architecture with ease. Why modern Operating Systems don't borrow ideas from IBM and i5 os (os/400) i don't know. It's the best operating system i've ever used on any machine ever. But i digress...

I don't know if you remember the transition from 16 to 32 bit? it was a complete pain in the butt for software developers who were writing code for windows. There were different versions of the same software (Visual Basic 4 is a good example)

I know when programming on the Amiga, there were different compiled versions of the same program for different processors to take advantage of the extra instructions that the newer processors offered. Running a program on a processor architecture and then increasing the mhz of that processor will give it a speed boost. but when it moves to a new architecture, to take advantage of the new processor, it needs to be compiled for that architecture so the new instructions get put into the compiled code. There is also the issue of memory allocation, although (with tongue placed firmly in cheek) we'll never need more then 640kb ram.
