Still likely they will put sonic in. Consumer demand for Sonic is at an all-time high, and Sega themselves have said they'd love to do it. I think it would be in Nintendos best interestes to listen to thier customers and include Sonic. Sega fans will flock to kick marios ass, boosting Wii sales significantly.

For authenticity of the Smash Bros series, I think it would be best not to include him, but I have to admit it would be something I'd like to see But like people are saying, when would it stop? We could wind up with Q*Bert and Mr. Do!

Not 1st game, any game on a nintendo console. i don't know where you got this from.

"In August 2006, Sakurai and Miyamoto stated that Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog was the most requested third-party character to be included. Around the same period of time, Tips & Tricks reported that Miyamoto has stated Nintendo has actually contacted Sega regarding this, and that they're awaiting a final decision."

So it looks like its up to sega.
