Xbox Live takes advantage of online console gaming, and whether it does it right or wrong, is not apart of Nintendo, and never will be.
The reason Nintendo stand out from other companies, is because they are not conforming towards any trend. Nintendo believe in what they think is a good time, and a good console + games, and go ahead and do it, no matter what everyone else is doing.
Don't expect Nintendo to create a fully fledged online multiplayer, the reason they created friends codes, one of them, is because they believe it's more fun to directly play with people you know, and people you enjoy and trust, than to pay 100 dollars a month to conect to play games against people you don't know, and that's what PC's are for. They are not looking to build a Mini PC, for online gaming, it's a home console.
The fact Nintendo have created friends codes, and an online function, free of charge on this new system, is great, and we couldn't ask for me. Good on Nintendo for sticking to what they think best, and not what everyone else is doing, and suggesting.
If you don't enjoy the fact you cannot play Nintendo Wii like any other console, then simply return to the other consoles you're playing, and don't play the Wii. Or post here = )
