Wii Hardware \ Internet Connection - Bigpond Wireless Modem

Hi, has anyone managed to connect their Wii to the internet via an adhoc wireless network. I havea Bigpond Wireless modem connected to my laptop, which I use to access the web. The Wii successfully finds the wireless network but has never managed to connect. Anyone with a similar setup managed to get this working? Thanks in advance

Maybe the modem isn't close enough to the Wii.

Wii does not "like" ad-hoc connections for some reason, winterde. I spent almost a full day trying to help a friend get WinXP ICS and the bridging working in a way that his Wii would be happy to connect. FInally, at 4.30pm, we bolted to the local yum-cha computer shop and picked up a cheap wireless modem-router to do the job. 20mins later he was online.

In theory, it should be as simple as allowing ICS (assuming we're talking about an XP host) and bridging the network connections. In reality....

Now, having said all of that - check out Nintendo's USB dongle au.ds.ign.com/ All this device basically does is act as an ad-hoc host!!!!

Arrrrrrgh.

had the same problem ring telstra and they give you a WEP key password to put in. once you put it in it can access the signal and the internet works.
