Wii Hardware \ Brand new Wii console problem : Please help :(

I finally got my wii today, went to set it up..very excited!!

Then when i turned it on, the screen is filled with PURPLE vertical lines...
I can still use the wii as normal, but these purple lines obv shouldnt be there and are highly irratating, and virtually makes the wii unplayable.


So figuring it was to do with the tv, i tried it on another tv, and .... same thing!




So please someone help?? Is this usual and easily fixable wih the settings on the tv or something?? Or am i the unlucky person who got a malfunctioning wii

If you have all those correct, then i would assume you got a faulty unit unfortunately.

Hmm, that is very strange. I know mine has purple lines for a split second when i change between resolutions, it is the TV updating itself i think. Try every combination of 50/60hz and both available resolutions. If you still have the lines, test games themselves and see if the lines are there. Try these on every available TV. If nothing works, contact Nintendo.

If he did that, he would be getting no picture at all. Trust me I know. I think if there are still issues, like said before, contact Nintendo.

Has a great Christmas day playing Wii sports, but this morning when turning back on the Wii (had red light on) it turned off. Only way to get back to a red light was to unplug power and plug power back in. But as soon as pushing power button the disk light would flash once and turn back off...

What does everyone think? Any suggestions? Or a broken Wii?

Sounds broke to me, i havent had any sorts of problems at all with mine. It froze once trying to do something on the internet, but the Opera Browser is a Beta so it's understandable.

Yeah you should definatly have a warranty claim. Take it back to where you got it with the reciept and get a new one (if they have any).

Well I ended up taking the unit straight back to Nintendo the day after boxing day and had a brand new replacement unit swapped over... So we only had one day where the kids where a little cranky... All working again, and all very happy!

Spoke to Nintendo on the 28th and they were great, said that the console definatly needed to be replaced, though noone at the company had ever heard of the purple line scenario...wierd?

So because of the public holidays there is small delay in getting my brand new console, but it will arrive on the 3rd, so looking foward to finally getting into zelda


Speaking to nintendo was very reassuring, they were very helpful & concerned with customer satisfaction.
