Yeah I admit I missed the 'b' to scroll on the open menu, but it's still fairly dodgey. Scrolling would be heaps better if it scrolled like the Mii Area where you can just kind of 'wander' over the page by drifting the remote.
BTW: It's not a 'beta' version, it's a trial version. The distinction is that this version is missing some functionality, but the bits that are there are theoretically complete and working.
I'm not saying it's bad because it's missing feature-X, I'm saying it's bad because the UI isn't as good as the other Wii user interfaces. Go pan around the Mii playground and see what I mean. Why can't it scroll like that. (Hmmm, maybe it does, better go have another crack at it)
