Wii Hardware \ Iam afraid of getting my wii moded :(

This is very bad and can kill the Wii console itself.

This has nothing to do with the WiiKey itself, it can happen if you have Cyclo-Wiz , WiiD or any other Wii mod chip installed. It’s due to the fact that the Wii console has no built in auto protection to detect that the bios being updated is from an incorrect region. At this stage, only some official Nintendo games have bios updates on them."

I don't know how that works. I get the mod i intall it. ANd then what How do i update the bios so that this does not happen to me

A crash do's/don's would be appreciated

www.ozmodchips.com/ that will tell you based on your serial. That's what "wii serial checker" refers to.
ozmodchips are also the installer of choice for most members here (I've done 2 through them), if you aren't doing it yourself I strongly recommend going through them.

It's true you need to update the Wii via system update before running NTSC games because some games have the update patches on them which is what causes the problem.

If you can't use a Wii-key I highly recommend a D2cpro I love mine it's a great chip (if your wii is compatible).

There's not much to be worried about really, they just trick the DVD drive into playing the disc, everything runs in stealth mode and Nintendo can't even get games online working correctly...I don't think they could EVER detect chips.

As long as you stick to PAL games their is no chance of bricking unless your blatantly stupid.

If your scared dont do it because some times you get those moments where you dont know whether it will brick or not.
If your a person who gets freaked out alot then I suggest you dont do it otherwise do your best

That being said If your scared then don't do it I only did cos all my friends knew exactly what they were doing and they helped me heaps, It's
a very tricky and in some other countries (but not in Australia) Illegal thing to do. So be sure you know what your doing first because I don't want your wii to get bricked. And by the way My wii was actually semi-bricked after I installed my wii which is where you cannot access your wii's settings and it just comes up to this opera browser problem.

Luckily All you need to do to fix a semi bricked wii is update your wii from a new game with an update like galaxy or MK wii and it works again or if u don't have a game to updaye there is a cure that you just burn onto a disk and put it into your wii and it fixes it.

It's normal to be afraid of chipping, because the risk of destroying your Wii (wether because of bricking or hardware failure) is VERY real and very high. A lot of people here may report success stories about their Wiis working with a chip, but in many other places (search around), there are just as many, if not more, stories of failures. Plus it's against Nintendo's Terms of Service agreement to be fiddling with the Wii like that.

Modchips and what they allow you to do are highly illegal and very immoral and shouldn't be done by anyone.

People who chip their consoles are victims of an epidemic of blantent disregard for the law.

Do the right thing man. Don't chip your Wii.
