Hi All

Does anyone here use a DLINK DI 624 wireless router for their Wii net connection. I have one which I can (most of the time) get working wirelessly on my pc. However on the Wii, I can find the router in the config screens, however it just wont connect.

If anyone here has the 624 and it working wirelessly with the Wii, I would love to know what you did.

I have crossed some stuff, but the code you chose at the bottom should be a 10-digit number, and the SSID is the name of the wireless network.

Thanks for reminding me, the Wii can only connect wirelessly using WEP.

Alas it did not work again... I might try it again tommorrow or something. I know the key is right because that what I used to login, however the wii will find the router, and when I try to connect it says the internet cannot be found. Am I missing something else??

i dont have the router so this is a general IT question, is your wii added to your router?

How do you mean? As in is it on the list of "approved" devises to connect to? If so I am not sure, I wouldnt even know how to find out...

Are you using the password to get into the router on the wii? If so, you should be using the 10-digit number under HEX Key.

The fact that it can find the Router, but not connect to it, suggests that you maybe turned on MAC Address filtering and didn't add the Wii's MAC Address to the filter. Add the Wii's MAC Address to the filter, or turn the filter off. Let me know if this solves anything.

On a side note, use WPA instead of WEP, unless you have a DS and require WEP for that. WPA is more secure then WEP.

Also, you need to use WEP in the first slot (as shown in Silence's configuration). The Wii will only connect on Slot 1.

Turn on Internet and WiiConnect24 in your system settings.
Updating your router's firmware is also recommended.

How exactly are you testing your connection? Does it connect when you try to check for system updates? how about connecting to the weather channel or Wii shop?

Another thing I can think of: Once I placed my Wii directly next to my router, and this caused the signal to become bad. If your Wii is too close to the router or too far away, this might also be the issue.
Place the Wii anywhere between 2-25 metres away from the router.
