look at the comic - it appears that initially we will see a free trial version (but fully functional). then this free trial period will expire by 'spring', when we'll have to pay a once-off fee to keep using it.

kind of like a bonus for those of us who bought wii straight off the bat.

"The final version of the Opera browser will be available at the end of March 2007, and will be free for all Wii owners to download through the end of June. After June 2007, the browser will be available for download in the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Wii Points."

i like how they're getting a beta out there so they can iron things out, but at the same time allowing everyone to experience the net on the wii as soon as possible.

for this trial version, only flash support has been confirmed, no word on the other standards.

and yes, it does take part of your download limit. it's transferring data to your wii, which you have to pay for.
