Dial up may be sufficient to run the net from your Wii in some cases, but in most; dial up is too slow and will often time out when attempting to connect to channels such as the shopping channel. My friend is able to connect through dial up, but he has no chance in accessing virtual console games through his connection for he will often time out each time his Wii attempts to connect.
