All the "Sensor" Bar is 2 IR (infa red) lights, one on each end. They just act as guides for the wii-motes IR camera, so the wii-mote knows were it is pointing. Sunlight can effect it or any other IR source (like candles). All in all it works ok ..but they can make it more powerful and thus increasing its range and accuracy. Ninty probably wont do that tho but some 3rd party's probably will.
