Ask most serious gamers and they will tell you that goldeneye still offers one of if not the best 1st person console multiplayer experiences. Graphics may date but gameplay never does, multiplayer goldeneye would be a massive attraction for the wii.
Of course rare is now owned by microsoft and is a shadow of its former self, but what about its N64 libarary? Most of these games would be great online, nintendo has already announced that many of its NES classics will be online compatible (excitebike). If anyone has any insight to this subject your comments would be appreciated.

I'd like to hear about this too ... i remember Goldeneye 64, it was awesome for multiplayer just on one console so it'd b even better online.

From what i have read goldeneye will not be available, which sucks cause it would have been one of the only games that i would want on the virtual console

Word is that although Rare worked on the DK games, Nintendo still owned the rights, so there'll be no dramas there.

As for other Rare titles, now that MS owns Rare (to over simplify it), how many $ do you think the Big N would have to hand over for those old titles?

I think that they would want a fair bit, if not all of any profit that is made from the sale of the games

or maybe they would want to release them themselves later because they do have the xbox live arcade, we could see goldeneye on this soon

in short anything that Rare developed for Ninty eg Donkey Kong may appear on the virtual console but anything rare developed for themselves eg Goldeneye, Perfect Dark dont have a snowballs chance in hell

All of rares games were co developed with nintendo, this is why rare games had superior graphics. Nintendo worked closely with rare to help them utilise all the 64's processing power (much to the annoyence of other developers Ocean, EA etc.)
Nintendo produced ALL of rares games, in other entertainment industries the producer has exclusive control over the rights.
Remember Donkey kong racing on the game cube, it only exsisted as a screen shot on the back of the Game cube console box, what happened there?
