Mario Super Sluggers: An All-Star Baseball Party! - 9/10
Gameplay: 10/10
The gameplay is great and very smooth. An addition of error items allows you to interfere with the fielders, and can prevent them from catching fly-balls and getting you out. Also, a cursor on the screen over the plate known as a sweet spot, allows you to make your hits more accurate and increases the chance of further hits and even homeruns. It may seem slightly easier than Mario Superstar Baseball but it is still challenging, since everything still takes good timing
Graphics: 9/10
I can't say much about them but the game has smooth graphics. However, the graphics are exactly the same as the one for Gamecube, so don't be expecting too much of an improvement. While the characters haven't changed much in graphics, the environment seemed to look a little nicer.
Controls: 10/10
The controls are byfar the best aspect of the game. You can use two different control methods: the wiimote with nunchuk or the wiimote by itself. If you want a challenge, I would recommend using the nunchuk since you must control everything and it feels more comfortable. When using the wiimote by itself, almost everything is done for you, such as running to bases, fielding, and you can't use the command of stealing bases without the nunchuk and you can't bunt either. Batting and throwing are simple and don't require alot of room like you would think. To pitch, just raise the remote and swing it down, and to bat, just swing from left to right.
Story/One-Player: 9/10
The story is basically the same, Bowser and Bowser Jr. have come to wreak havoc and take over the baseball island. The best thing about the one-player mode known as "Challenges" is that you don't have to go through it with each captain, instead you start out with just Mario & Luigi and build your team from there. You walk around to each captain's park to stop Bowser Jr.'s mischief and get the other captains to join you. Each captain has an ability they can use on the map such as DK can climb vines, Yoshi ground pounds, or Wario's magnet. As for the other guys, most you have to find using a captain's ability and most of the time you have to do missions such as catching a fly-ball or get a double-play. Having to do alot of missions gets annoying but it lasts much longer than the one-player mode from the gamecube one.
Overall: 9/10
This game is a must have with good gameplay and excellent controls. The graphics are decent and the story is entertaining. If you didn't like the gamecube one or missed out on it, then get Mario Super Sluggers!
