What are you going to leave behind and what will eat what?

If you take the wolf then you leave the she-goat eating the cabbage.

If you take the cabbage then you have the wolf eating the she-goat.

If you take the she-goat then you don't have a wolf eating the cabbage but seeing you can only take one thing at a time, what you take back next is going to be or get eaten on the other side when you go to pick up the last object.

(I know the answer now anyway. I have heard very similar before, didn't catch on)

It's all about swapping.... When you take the she-goat first you then go back to the other side empty and then bring back the cabbage, you then swap the cabbage for the she-goat and then swap the she-goat for the wolf on return..... And so on.

I still like first answer best - Only takes one trip that way.
