personally i don't mind if the 40Gb PS3 has no backward compatibility (i already have a PS2). and what's 2 less USB ports? it's not like you'd really need 4 (if you need more then maybe use a USB hub?). the hdd can always be upgraded later on.

i want the PS3 because i want to play games and watch blue ray. i'd buy the 60Gb if i had $980, but the $699 model would do the job all the same. i'm sure they will release a bundle before christmas. oh, and i heard Sony is phasing out the 60Gb model?

My point was that when you take the value of the 2 games & controller away it really is the same price for the PS3 itself. I dont know about other people but when I buy a new console I also buy a couple games at least & a extra controller so I dont think the arguement that it makes it more affordable as whats the point in buying one & not buying some games. Most people who want a PS3 would already have a PS2 so they wouldnt buy it to play their PS2 games only. For me backward compatibility is important as I sold my PS2 on ebay after I got the PS3 as it plays all my PS2 games anyway (still have a silver PS2 which is my GF's thou) I just think when you do the math it works out that your getting less for the same price really. Im glad I got the PS3 when I did anyways.

Well my bundle came with Motorstorm which I really wanted & Resistance which I didnt want, I told the guy at Harvey Norman that this is what was stopping me from wanting to buy the bundle, so he offerred me the chance to swap resistance for another game the same price so I got F1 as I like driving games, he really wasnt suppose to do that but he said he would work it out somehow. They ended up just changing stickers on the two games so it still looked like to Sony that I got resistance as Sony reimbursh the store for the games & extra controller.
