I have read threads abut the size of memory card that can be used in the gecko adapter and the read me that saysso none HCSD might work so i got a TRANSCEND 4gb sd card and poped it into mu card reader under xp and used the batch file sdformat and it winged about the 64k block but formated anyway, cool put it into the gecko and poped in my disc and booted the disc back up software and inserted sonic click a key and off it went checking disk the card ans said it will take 2 chunks great, did the first chunk now this is my problem it wont read the chunk under dump batch says reading card then puts an image with a size of 0 if i try a second time it asks if i want to replace the one there and does exactly the same thing?

Any ideas

Ok, so what I can understand is that you are using a 4gb SD card? Right? But anything that is over 2gb is a SDHC card, which is not at all compatible with the Standard SD card slots. There are no 4gb SD cards that are of the old standard. They are all SDHC which only very new devices support.

The errors come as a result of the gecko card not being able to handle these SDHC cards. You're gonna have to use 2gb SD cards to have the Wiikey program split the image into multiple images for the 2gb card.

EDIT: Here's is proof of what I am saying from the actual gecko website:

No it is not a SDHC card, and it is reconised by the geko adapter i am backing up sonic to it now, its when it comes back to the pc side dumptool wont dump the chunk from it, if you rad the readme with the dumptool is goes as follows

SNIP ----------------------------

There may be some non-sdhc 4gb cards, but we didnt have one to test with.

SNIP ----------------------------

The 4gb sd card i have is no HC it just a normal sd card.

Ive never been able to get my 2gb or 1gb or even 512mb card to work. It always says unreadable. Ive formatted them in all the available formats and still nothing. The geko reader works as ive been able to save to an sd in a cube game. (animal crossing)

caver99, try another brand of 4Gb SD card (non-SDHC). otherwise, just stick to 2gb. There are some forums where they claim to have successfully used 4Gb, you can try found out which brand they use.

i have the gecko card and it takes 3 dumps for a Wii disc, and only one dump for a Gamecube disc. it takes less than an hour to dump and burn a backup.

i just understand why the dumptool will format the 4gb card and the wii will dump to it but then the dumptool wont dump the chunk onto the pc?
At the moment i am using a 1gb card to dump and it dumps i 5 parts, i would like the other as it only does it in 2.

Nope any old DVD burner will copy and burn a backup.

Some better than others though/
