I've got my Wiimotes hooked up to a Joytech power station and this has happened to my Wiimotes a bit too. If turning the power off doesn't work, just put some normal batteries in, not the rechargable ones, that usually does the trick for me. If that doesn't work then I have no idea, but I wouldn't think that a power surge would just stop the Wiimotes from working, it would screw up the whole console.

nintendo told me when they replaced mt wii it may have been caused by a power surge to make sure its always on a surge protecter ,i guess wiimotes could be same.

This kind of thing has happened to me a couple times. I just pulled the power from the back of the unit and plug back in. Turn it back on and all is good.

Doesn't work by just pressing the power button.
