Wii Hardware \ Rumor of Warning: Next wii patch to annihilate chiped wii

As for the xbox 360, it wouldn't surprise me if they did patch it. As with the PSP, there will be away around the firmware flashing problems and therefore there will be a solution, no doubt.

These rumours have been flying around the internet for a while though. I couldn't find any latest news for this year. Most of the news on fixes for hacks seem to be dated at least a year ago.

It doesn't mean it is legal to have a modified Wii (or any other console for that matter). As far as Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft is concerned, having a modified console is a breach of their warranty and conditions of use. It doesn't really matter if the chip is legal or not.

I don't think there is a country where it is legal to modify your console. However they can't stop people from making and selling the mod chips.

Thats why any chip for the PS3 will be illegal but for the wii not. We are just lucky (or not depending on who you speak to) that the wiikey does both, but is sold on the assumption your staying within the law. No company can release a patch that will break your machine. The xbox patch does not break your machine it stops you playing online. When i say legal i mean law, not terms and conditions. terms and conditions are not the law, especially when a surpreme court judge rules against them.

Heck i am still trying to finish The Thousand Year Door. No excuses for chipped consoles. I am sure most of the Wii owners here have a decent PC, go grab Titan Quest (with expansion) and Quake 4 or F.E.A.R. There are plenty of decent games around to occupy you while you learn the meaning of patience for Wii games.

i agree 100%

When release games come out with new consoles there is only 1 or 2 games that are any good, and it takes awhile for the good games to come out.

Zelda and Wii sports have kept me going, and some of my GC games to.

Go play World Of Warcraft is you can't/don't want to wait.

You can buy alcohol, but you can't drink it while driving your car. You can im sure get NOS kits for your cars, but you can't install them an expect to drive around the street with it enabled.

Frankly i wish they would quit with mod chips... There is NO REASON to have one. Except for pure impatiance & being a tight-ass when it comes to spending money on games.

Why should someone be forced to wait 6 months or longer for a game to be released in a different region. PAL regions always get screwed even though most of Europe is covered by it! I know that the by product of having a chip is people that will download and burn games, not that i condone this, but if Nintendo wanted it to be stopped, they should have made the Wii region free, like some other well known system. Then they could follow Microsofts example and ban anyone with a chip becuase there is no need for it other than to play pirated material or to cheat!

I really hate the way we are cast aside for videogame releases in Australia. I think if we have a loud enough voice, it could change. I do notice though America (mainly Microsoft) are starting to realise and including us a little more in their releases at the same time.

I don't think Nintendo have quite caught on yet that Australian gaming is big. Except for Wii Play. We had that about 4 months before America did...

It doesn't mean that Nintendo are compelled to support it. If a Nintendo update happens to break your modded Wii then it's your problem that you voided your warranty.
