At least with a console the price tag covers it for life as it's always max graphics, max sound, max speed and so on.

PC gaming doesn't require constant upgrading. People who say you need to upgrade every six months are either shareholders in a hardware manufacturer, or silly. To stay near the high end you only need to upgrade your graphics card every 18 or 24 months. For a very good graphics card that means $35 set aside every month (or $8.75 per week), and if you don't want to spend it, then you don't have to. Just turn the quality settings down until the game runs playably.

Anyway, the weakness of console gaming is in its non-expandability. I have played plenty of console games that lag, and lag hard, and the usual fix for that would be to tweak the video settings or add more RAM, but you can't. I think that a high-end PC is a better purchase than a console because not only is there a sea of free and cheap-as-chips games for a PC, but also because you'll need one anyway, and it has a massive catalog of games, and because a good PC could be your HDTV player and recorder, DVD player, music system, content editor and internet node. It simply has more uses than a console.

thats what i upgraded over 4 yrs...pretty good?
altho, my mobo got fried (it was screwed anyway, then i acc. fried it ) and my power Supply too..but part from that...twas all good

now, i made an upgrade to my laptop (sounds like a downgrade) but for $500 i picked up a pentium M 1.4ghz and dedicated graphics and 512mb ram... i sold me computer, came back with a laptop...and i even gained like $20, hehe upgrading for cheaper

i plan to get another stick of 512 ram and a dvd burner and a HD tv usb tuner and stuff like that...some time soon..after i get a job
love gaming...i just get all new games and they play...some even on like high graphics mode...

Four hours of paintballing equals a crazy lot of sprinting around and carrying weights all over the place. Your legs feel like they're about to fall off or go numb, but you keep running and barely notice a difference because of the andrenaline.

Now that's high-intensity.
