Nintendo has officially announced its Wii sales in the first 5 months (why not 6 months, it's an even half-yr....) and it's pretty damn good. Like the article suggests, they woulda hit the 6 million target if it wasnt for shortages, but they were close enough.

it'll last as long as some third parties come to the table, as hard as it is for game companies to get capital to finance something that they can get intellectual properties on and make some serious cash, they need to pump out same old drool to people with short attention spans to keep cash rollin in to make the next game

a single new game thats striked a chord with games and is popular can generate upto an extra billion

At the end of the day more consoles should mean more games.

There you go. Nintendo themselves are working on 124 games for Nintendo machines. You do have to realise, the initial gaming drought the Wii is suffering is caused by the lack of 3rd party support. Most 3rd party developers never imagined the Wii would take off so well, and they anticipated a flood of ps3 enthusiasts. When the Wii smashed the ps3 in sales and took off, developers had to backpedal and start making Wii games and even cancel some Ps3 games.

Unfortunatly, these games take time, so you can expect a massive flood of games around christmas time. The smart developers who saw the potential for the Wii released games early, but unfortunatly there wasnt many of them. Oh and Winnie, you can imagine all day about Wii Sports getting boring, but i have had my Wii since launch and i havent gotten bored of Wii Sports yet, expecially combined with the Vc collection of N64 titles and GC games i have. I probably have a total of like 20 games to play on the Wii and even though only 4 of them are Wii games, it proves there are plenty of games for Wii owners. If i had $600 lying around, i know of another 6 games i would buy for the Wii straight away (metal slug,sonic,dbz,godfather etc etc) so the drought isnt as bad as what people make it out to be.
